This week I made some good progress on my Maple Leaf Rag quilt. By Friday I had finished all of the kite-shaped pieces, which went much faster than I had anticipated. Here are all 128 of them. Actually 130 because I made a couple of extra by accident.
While this project is definitely shrinking my enormous scrap collection, I still have way too many scraps. I started out by going through all of my scraps and picking out some of the smaller scraps of each color and putting them in a bag. When I started out, this bag was completely full of fabric. When I finished it looked like this.
It turns out that the next step is much more time consuming, which to be honest is kind of nice. I am having a lot of fun working with old fabrics that I haven't used in a while and I am thoroughly enjoying the process.
I also received my fabrics to participate in the
Intrepid Thread Scrap Challenge, so I think I will get started on that tonight. Does anyone know what the fabric tied around the package is? It is really pretty and I don't recognize it.
Hopefully by next week I will have finished my scrap challenge project and have made more project on the quilt, I have a couple of baby quilts to get started on soon :)

I want to make a Maple Leaf Rag quilt now! Anything to use up scraps. I've over run. Its definitely a contender.

wow, your Maple Leaf Rag looks amazing!!! Good for you, using up all those scraps. Every time I make a scrappy quilt I seem to use some of my scraps but also end up having a lot more new scraps to add to my pile. Go figure.

Wow, your Maple Leaf Rag quilt is going to be completely stunning! I think the fabric tied around the package is a print from Ladies Stitching Club (this one: http://www.gonetoearth.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1873) by Oliver and S for Moda. I love it too - wish I had a little bit in my stash.
Yup still in love with this project. Can't wait to see it done. And of course you made it through all those kites so fast it makes it seem doable. Of course I already have a really BIG list of my own to be trying to work through.
